Body category The Medilabel Safety System© is system for labeling medicine designed to prevent medication errors in hospitals.
Medication errors are the most commonly reported treatment errors in the hospital sector. The Medilabel Safety System© is designed to make correct drug administration easier for medical professionals and life safer for patients by making the medicine packages easier to tell apart.
“As designers we have found it extremely meaningful to use our skills to create a design system for medical labels that will reduce pain and hopefully save lives, “ said the team behind the design.
“For patients, a lowered risk of medication errors not only prevents avoidable pain and suffering. Getting the right medicine at the right moment is essential to recovering. And getting the wrong medicine may ultimately lead to your death.“
By combining user studies with design skills and a deep knowledge of systematics and cognition, the design system uses a specially designed typeface as well as few and powerful visual tools to make it easier for nurses and doctors to distinguish between different medical products.
“As a doctor or nurse it is a traumatizing experience to accidentally administer the incorrect medicine or incorrect dose to a patient. Thus, a decrease in the risk factors will enhance not only the safety and sense of security for patients, but also the quality of doctors’ and nurses’ working life.” Designed by: e-Types. Denmark.
